Sessions for Parents
Parenting can be like riding a rollercoaster! It is both rewarding and challenging, filled with constantly changing emotions. Of all the variables facing us, the only one we can control is ourselves. Mindfulness enables us to slow down, approach parenting with awareness and compassion, and manage our responses, allowing us to fully appreciate precious family moments.
The goal of mindful parenting is to support parents, by cultivating present-moment and non-judgmental attention for the child and the parent. The aim is to strengthen the parent-child relationship by dealing differently with parenting stress. This can be cultivated by focusing on and present moment reality and accepting it for what it is. This can help us to become aware of automatic patterns of reacting to children, how these can be related to their own experiences and then taking better care of ourselves as parents.
Goals of Mindful Parenting
Research is showing that this approach can be particularly supportive to help both parents and children, when a child or adult in the family has ADHD.
These can run alongside or after therapy sessions, after consultation with the therapist.
